The oath of office contains a phrase “uphold the constitution”. well it seems that once in office, there are efforts made to make end-runs around the constitution. If lawmakers would have upheld the constitution, there would be no need for the voting rights act. Oh and by the way, every citizen have the right to vote, It makes no mention of any criminal status past or present. According to the constitution, the only way to keep a person from voting is to take away their citizenship.
If you look back at laws in the past and at laws today, you may well wonder what were they thinking. It’s not rocket science, but it seems complicated for Lawmakers. Let’s take the law against interracial marriage. Instead if repealing this law, those idiots defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. Now, instead of repealing that law, another law is being pass to accommodate same sex marriage.
NOTE: There was a thing called common law marriage, you only had to live together for a couple of years and the deed was done. There was no mention of gender. Or, you went to a preacher and if he was so inclined, you said your I do’s and that was it. The government got involved and dangled some marital benefits (at tax payers expense) in front of couples, which led to institutional marriage. And, like any other institutional organization, you have to have a license. Now ain’t that romantic.
Another law is the davis-bacon act. All that was needed was to repeal the davis-bacon act and there would be no need for affirmative action. Four Presidents since and including F.D.R being the first, has temporarily suspended the davis-bacon act. Other presidents to suspend the davis-bacon act was Nixon, Bush #1, It stayed suspended until Slick Willie reinstated it. Bush #2 suspended it also. Don’t take my word for it, look it up. The Lawmakers will legislate around a law instead of repealing it. Repealing would eliminate the need for lawsuits and more legislation to clean up the mess. In the beginning, affirmative action was only to apply to government jobs, but those idiots felt the need to include schools, colleges, and anything they could add to botch up it’s intended purpose.
In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued Executive Order 11246 which required government employers to take “affirmative action” to “hire without regard to race, religion and national origin. In 1967, sex was added. No where in it did it stipulate a requirement that government employers hire unqualified applicants. There were provisions put in the davis-bacon act specifically to discriminate against Blacks. There were skilled carpenters, brick masons and plumbers that migrated north from southern colleges. They participated in building programs much like Carter’s Habitat for humanities. They actually had to help build homes, business buildings and the like to graduate. It was nothing more than protectionist legislation in favor of the less skilled northerners. They later formed unions that excluded Blacks.
These idiots do not formulate and pass legislation to solve problems, they are intent on dividing us and stirring up controversy. If we are fighting among each other, we are not paying attention to what they are really doing. I use to go hunting with my daddy. We had several beagles. At the end of the hunt, he would have his bag limit. He would always throw one rabbit in amongst the dogs. They would fight over that one rabbit. I asked my dad why he gave them only one rabbit. He said, If I gave them all they want they would be satisfied. He also said “as long as they are fighting each other, they won’t turn on me”
If a legislator only served for one year, I think they would do a better job. The time span of six years tend to cause voters to forget.
