1. In 1886, L. H. Latimer Received Patent for Apparatus for Cooling & Disinfecting
2. In 1897, D. L. White Received Patent for Extension steps for cars
3. In 1948, Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher, U.S. Supreme Court decision (Sipuel v. Oklahoma State Board of Regents) said a state must afford Blacks “an opportunity to commence the study of law at a state institution as citizens.”
4. In 1952, University of Tennessee admits its first Black student. Gene Mitchell Gray became the first African American student admitted to the University, as a graduate student.
